Spiritual readiness is a concept that permeates the first part of the By-Law for the Christian Science nurse, in the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy (see p. 49).
By representing myself as a Christian Science nurse, I am cultivating the provable knowledge of Christian Science practice. This means praying every day for myself, studying to understand more of the Bible and what Jesus was teaching us through his healing works. It’s also been important to understand more of what Mary Baker Eddy is telling us through her writings, and apply my understanding in healing any situation which is not in consonance with God, good.
Each day I pray for all of mankind; to know that there is not a man, woman, or child who could ever be separated from the love of our Father-Mother God. I pray for that spiritual discernment that lights my path each moment to be of help to whomever I can, and to discern my fellow brothers’ and sisters’ needs.
