"AS THOU HAST BELIEVED, SO BE IT DONE UNTO THEE"

From the September 1960 issue of The Christian Science Journal

To the centurion who sought healing for his servant who was "sick of the palsy, grievously tormented," Christ Jesus said, "Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee." And we are told that "his servant was healed in the selfsame hour" (Matt. 8:6, 13). The Master's statement, "As thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee," pointed to the truth that disease is a false belief and that one heals it by knowing the truth. The true concept of man as God's perfect reflection dispels the false concept.

For centuries the Bible has proclaimed to the world in the first chapter of Genesis that God is the source of all being and that man is His image and likeness. But mankind has generally accepted an entirely different concept of life and of man.

I was taught that God is good, but I also believed in evil, sin, sickness, and death. With my lips I was calling upon this good God, while in my heart I believed in an opposing power. When I reached man's extremity and was told that I could not be healed, I found God, the great Physician, who knows no disease, curable or incurable. I did not know anyone interested in Christian Science, but I procured the Bible and all the books written by Mrs. Eddy and began to study them earnestly.
