I am sincerely and deeply grateful to God, and I am grateful for Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and for Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. It is a constant source of joy to me that I can play even a small part in our great Cause.
The Bible says, "And the eyes of them that see shall not be dim" (Isa. 32:3). This statement has a very real meaning to me because of a wonderful healing I had of a serious eye infection that was pronounced incurable by the medical profession.
When I was seventeen and serving in the United States Navy, I contracted a rare eye infection in both eyes. Several years followed of going from specialist to specialist and of painful medical treatments and operations, all without avail. I was discharged from the Navy because of "defective vision." Also, I found I was unable to continue my college education because it was impossible for me to study.
