Praising God

From the February 1983 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Unless I recognize
that which lies
beyond what mortal eyes
would see,
I am not praising Thee.

Unless I listen well
to hear Thine angels speak
when mortal voices shriek
their claims of sin and hell,
I am not praising Thee.

Unless I let my life confess
the love all sons of God express,
whose touch reveals
the law that heals,
I am not praising Thee.

Not word of mouth, as Pharisee,
nor sacrifice on bended knee,
but ears that hear, eyes that see,
and love that heals
reveal
my praise of Thee.
