Is Christian Science our "everything"?

From the November 1985 issue of The Christian Science Journal

As we study Christian Science, our love for God grows. We see the importance of constant prayer and gain an ever-deepening love for humanity. And sooner or later we feel with complete conviction that this is the truth that alone can heal mankind and open the door to a permanent demonstration of God's great love for His children. The desire then grows to give to others what we ourselves treasure.

If we are to share Christian Science effectively with others, our conviction must be absolute that it fulfills the promise of which Christ Jesus spoke. He told his disciples, "I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever."John 14:16. To speak with others profitably regarding current criticism of Christian Science requires, again, absolute conviction that nothing on earth is equal to this truth in benefiting mankind, that nothing can remove its healing efficacy.

For the Cause of Christian Science to fulfill its mission, our dedication to this way of life must be continually strengthened and renewed. Our consecration to it, our study and spiritual growth, must be seen as more valuable than human ambition; for certainly through growth Spiritward our human needs will be provided. Human intentions and desires, however well-meaning, will never give mankind the lasting blessings that an understanding of the Comforter, the Christ in our consciousness, can bring.
