My first testimony appeared in the March Journal in 1974. I continue to have many reasons to be deeply grateful for Christian Science. The study of this timeless truth has broken down a number of limitations for me and given me a peace that I feel sure I would never have known otherwise.
Some years ago I woke one morning with a very stiff right shoulder and arm. I was not particularly concerned, but by the next day the pain was intense and my arm was immobile from the shoulder to the elbow. I went to work, nevertheless, because I had the use of the arm from the elbow down, which was all that was needed to type.
The condition was especially painful at night; I could find no comfortable sleeping position. I would get up and read the Bible, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and copies of Christian Science periodicals. And I would pray. This always alleviated the discomfort, and eventually I would get some sleep. After several days I decided to call a Christian Science practitioner, whose assurance of healing helped me very much.
