"Can I talk to your pastor?"

From the January 1992 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A special broadcast of The Herald of Christian Science was taped in the Sunday School auditorium of The Mother Church in Boston. Some in the audience had made plans to attend months ahead; others dropped in spontaneously as they noticed the sign on the plaza outside the entrance. For some, it was a first introduction to the Christian Science textbook.

For example, a Journal staff member who was ushering in the lower lobby during the taping upstairs was approached by a visitor during a break in the program: "I want a copy of that book they're talking about upstairs." And he apparently wanted it enough to follow the usher through several buildings until they found a paperback copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. As they walked, the visitor explained that he, like several of the speakers, was searching for spiritual answers. He felt he might find some in what Christian Scientists call their pastor—the Bible and the Christian Science textbook.
