Waging peace in the world

World conflicts may seem too complicated to pray about. And you may wonder about the effectiveness of just one individual praying over a large-scale international problem. But neither the magnitude of the situation nor its geographical location should weaken our heartfelt desire to see justice and human dignity upheld in the world through God's government.

Anyone hungering for mankind to be governed harmoniously has a duty and privilege to pray for a peaceful resolution of turmoil in the world. Through discerning man's relation to God, omnipotent Love, we can overcome feeling inadequate to pray about large, complex problems, wherever they may be occurring—in one's own backyard or across the globe. God's power is humanly perceptible through Christian Science, the divine law of Life, Truth, and Love. By understanding this law, we can learn how to think spiritually about waging peace in the world.

Mary Baker Eddy quoted the following verse in her sermon at the dedicatory service of The First Church of Christ, Scientist:
