PERSPECTIVES ON SCIENCE, THEOLOGY, AND MEDICINE

Symposiums on spirituality and healing in medicine

Christian Science healing methods explained

From the March 1999 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The department of continuing education at Harvard Medical School and the Mind/Body Medical Institute, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, will be holding their seventh symposium on "Spirituality &' Healing in Medicine" in Chicago, Illinois, from March 20 to 22.

During the sixth symposium in the series, in Boston in December, there were talks on Buddhist, Jewish, Roman Catholic, Hispanic-Pentecostal, Christian Science, and several other healing practices, and panel discussions on the efficacy of spiritual healing and its place in current medical practice. Some of the discussion gave special emphasis to spirituality and healing as it relates to death and dying.

Spirituality is
no longer
a curiosity.
It's becoming
a demand.
