Insight From A Snowy Hill

From the December 2001 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The hill was covered with sparkling snow,
Fresh, fallen just that day,
Pristine, but for one set of footprints,
Which to the top made their way.
What was it about this winter postcard
That made me stop and think?
It was recalling the Master's "Follow thou me"—
A command now crystal clear.
Why, to do this, I could see,
We have to place our steps
In the path where Jesus put his.
To plow our way through life would be
Disobedience to our Father, God,
Who wants His children to feel
the peace and joy of being right with Him.

"Thy will, not mine, be done"
is the path the Master trod.
Shall not his followers tread it still?
