OUTLOOK NIGERIA—A CORRECT VIEW

A CONVERSATION WITH BOSEDE BAKAREY

From the August 2009 issue of The Christian Science Journal

You know how going on a trip can change you? You get rewired, reshaped, reprogrammed. As if you've hit the reset button on your internal computer. And you see things differently. You see yourself differently. You see the world differently. You've gotten outside of your bubble, and you feel—

Awake!

That happened to me in a big way back in 2005 when I spent ten days in Nairobi, Kenya. I wrote about my trip for the Journal (see "Road to Nairobi ... and Back (changed)," February 2006, p. 36). Soon after, I met in Boston at a conference for Christian Science lecturers. (I wasn't a lecturer. I showed up as writer for the Journal.) Bosede and I bonded. Bonded in ways we never would have if I hadn't been to Africa.
