A new day

From the May 2012 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I had an unhappy message on my answering machine. After listening to it, I elected to delete it—not to replay it, not to save it, not to mull over it, not to analyze it. But to delete it. Then the voice on the machine said, “All old messages deleted.” It was what I needed to hear.

How many times do unhappy or discouraging thoughts come to us like unwelcome messages on an answering machine? “I’m in pain; I regret having done this or that; I don’t know how to resolve this dilemma,” and so on. Delete, delete, delete.

That doesn’t mean we ignore these thoughts, but we don’t allow them to repeat an error that we know to be untrue. Only what God, Truth, tells us is true, and He gives us fresh inspiration each day according to our need.

All old messages deleted. It’s a new day.
