Poems

No forgetting

From the August 2012 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The nursing home said, “We look for points of light.”
“That’s nice,”  I thought, wrestling with numbness in my thinking,
while I saw only frail minds with bodies sinking.
Then came the sweetest reprieve:
“Oh man, awake! Be all there, newly aware.
Man is the climax of My exquisite intelligence, so fair.
I am at all points spherical clearness, nearness, All in all.
I know nothing of Adam’s mythical temptation and fall.
I marvelously mind this image, upright and tall.
No need to remind Me,
no lapse, no forgetting, no delaying at all.”
