Letters

From the September 2014 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I found the article “Unconventional prayer” by Caryl Emra Farkas in the June Journal a standout. Why? Because it’s quite original and encourages us to dig deeper, to ponder. Articles that are really different from others published in the past get my attention. And when they’re really great for both the beginner and the seasoned metaphysician, that’s what I’m looking for.

How delightful to find the article “Mary Baker Eddy and her lecturers,” an interview with Paul Stob, and “Why do we pray?” by Bob Cochran in the same Journal (May 2014). Mr. Stob points out that the Christian Science Board of Lectureship designed lectures “to give a cogent, compelling response to criticisms of Christian Science that were circulating widely at the time.”
