Testimonies of Healing

Dancing again—with joy

From the January 2015 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Originally written in German, this testimony first appeared in the September 2014 Portuguese, Spanish, French, and German editions of The Herald of Christian Science.

I love to dance! Dancing is an expression of qualities such as grace, rhythm, discipline, energy, joy, agility, harmony, and coordination.

One evening, a few years ago, I had to leave a dance event early because of back pain. I thought that if I took it easy for a little while, the problem would go away. But after I took a break from dancing for a week, the pain recurred, and within weeks I was forced to stop dancing altogether. Eventually, other physical activities were also affected by this back condition.

I began to pray seriously about this situation. To begin, I studied the testimonies in the Christian Science periodicals. From my earlier study of the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, I already knew that God takes perfect care of His creation and cares for all of His children without conditions or constraints; without measure or limit. I knew that the realization of God’s unconditional love brings about healing. In my study of the Christian Science Bible Lessons, I especially looked for God’s declarations of love for His creation and prayed with them.
