Commitment to Healing

Responding to the call

From the May 2015 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Being invited to attend a practitioner roundtable last spring gave me good reason to reflect on my journey into the public practice of Christian Science healing and to take stock of the many blessings that have unfolded for me. One of the many memorable experiences along the way was the initial “call” to start my practice of Christian Science healing.

On my first day of orientation as a summer intern at The Mother Church, which was the day after Annual Meeting, all the interns sat in on a workshop on the public practice. It was during this meeting that a very clear angel thought said, “Start your practice.” I wrote it off as a coincidence and moved on with my day. However, for the next six weeks that gentle command to start my practice came every day, and I mentally responded with a “No, thank you.” Yet at this time my work as an intern allowed me to read articles about the practice and healing by experienced practitioners and teachers, which was of great value to me in gaining a clearer understanding of the importance and practicality of a life devoted to healing.

While each of us has his or her individual journey into the full-time practice and no one’s will be just like mine, God unfolds each and every step of the way.
