The ‘unsearchable realm of Mind’

From the January 2016 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Over 40,000 Google search queries are made every second on the Internet. And while we’re gobbling up online content, there’s also a search going on for everything in our immediate radius: employment, satisfying relationships, health and well-being, along with—how can we escape it?—the search for a purpose in life.

That insatiable “search engine” also known as the human mind always seems to be active, and we justify its search because we think there’s always something more to know or to have.

But Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, urges us again and again in her writings to see ourselves from God’s standpoint—the standpoint of divine Mind. She poses this earth-shattering question in her seminal work, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures: “Where shall the gaze rest but in the unsearchable realm of Mind?” (p. 264). Over the years, those words have become a wake-up call when I am buying into the world belief that I run my own show.
