Testimonies of Healing

Joint problem gone

From the March 2016 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Recently, at The Mother Church’s online Wednesday testimony meeting, participants sang the hymn that begins, “Help us to help each other, Lord” (Charles Wesley, Christian Science Hymnal, No. 107). I love that the testimony meetings and the testimonies in these periodicals offer us a way to help each other. I’m always so encouraged when I hear or read about the simple and big ways in which others are putting the laws of God into practice. So, thank you to everyone who has shared healing experiences, and here is a healing I’d like to offer as a help and encouragement to others.

Some years ago, I was having a problem with my shoulders, which made it difficult for me to raise my arms. Little things, such as putting on a coat or reaching a cabinet over my head, were a real struggle. I affirmed that my true being is spiritual and perfect, made in God’s image, and that any discordant condition, such as pain or difficulty moving, had no more substance than a dream, but stemmed from a false belief that life and intelligence are in matter.

I also prayed with the idea that the body, my true spiritual identity, is “fitly joined together” (Ephesians 4:16). I wanted to be clear in my thought that the one true body is the manifestation of divine Mind, is governed by Mind, and is made up of spiritual ideas, all expressing Mind’s harmonious, unhindered action—no friction.
