Learning from what Jesus said

The significance of two or three

From the September 2016 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The small Christian Science Society of which I am a member is actively seeking ways to more effectively serve our local community. Currently, I’m serving as its First Reader.

Recently, while the Second Reader and I were reading through the Bible Lesson in preparation for the Sunday service, she wondered why these words of Christ Jesus had been included in that particular Lesson: “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them” (Matthew 18:20). The same question had occurred to me.

Paul’s quick recovery would have been greatly heartening and of considerable moment.
