It is with great gratitude, awe, and joy that I write this testimony. Throughout my life I have always read the Christian Science periodicals starting from the back so that I could read the testimonies of healing first. The Wednesday testimony meetings held at branch Churches of Christ, Scientist, and The Mother Church are like watering holes in a desert, bringing much refreshing inspiration and healing—coming from the understanding of man as being a spiritual idea and not a material mortal.
This particular healing took some time, and I learned such a valuable lesson about the necessity of steadfastness. Persistence and perseverance in my prayers lifted me above the lie of life and intelligence in and of matter. I knew my victory was inevitable. In fact, while still incapacitated and in pain, I began writing this testimony because I was so confident there would be complete healing!
After using a snow shovel to help spread a pickup load of soil amendment for our flower garden, I became aware of severe pain in my hip and back—as though I might have severely torn or pulled the muscles in my hip and back or there was a misalignment of some sort. However, I already knew that whatever it claimed to be had never been true about me, or anyone else for that matter! When I told my husband, he immediately began praying. I also called a Christian Science practitioner for specific prayerful treatment. I knew that the spiritual truth of the perfection of God and man was true and was in operation to heal me right then.
