An expanded sense of the practice

From The Christian Science Journal - May 14, 2012

After taking Primary class instruction—a two-week class on Christian Science healing—I was eager to dive right into the practice as a part-time practitioner. “Finally!” I thought. I had already been taking cases and working to prayerfully support those around me before class, and was now so grateful that I could officially put the letters “C.S.” after my name.

When I returned to college the following fall, I really enjoyed my new vocation as a practitioner. I was able to devote a great deal of time each day to both study and prayer, finding plenty of opportunities to metaphysically support those around me. Not only was it the most harmonious quarter of my college experience, filled with tremendous growth and harmonious unfoldment of various challenges I was working through, but I also really enjoyed witnessing the tangible effects of my prayer. The prayer requests I was receiving from patients were clear evidence of divine Mind, since I was being asked to treat issues I’d been addressing in my own thought. This allowed me to dive even deeper.

Since that fall, I’ve been able to continue my work in the part-time practice, though I still have a strong desire to go into the full-time practice. Consequently, as I haven’t yet received the angel message to quit the jobs I am currently involved in, there have been several ideas I have worked with along the way, which have helped me see the importance of our daily, moment-by-moment practice, whether or not we are advertising in The Christian Science Journal.
