WHAT IS TRUTH?

CHRISTIAN SCIENTISTS have found it of fundamental importance to be able to give a correct answer to Pilate's famous question, "What is truth?" To answer this question it has been found necessary to make a distinction which is not commonly made; namely, to discriminate between what appears true to mortals and what is true; in short, between appearance and actuality. Jesus set forth the necessity for such a distinction when he said, "Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

RECEPTIVITY TO TRUTH

THE question is sometimes asked, Why is it that some persons are healed by Christian Science treatment so much more quickly than other persons, even when the cases seem to be almost identical? The Christian Science practitioner has learned through experience that no two cases are quite alike; each case is necessarily an individual claim of error presenting its own particular beliefs and fears, and must, therefore, be treated as separate and distinct from all other cases. This fact makes it impossible that any formula can be successfully used in Christian Science treatment.

"BE YE PERFECT."

MUCH of the criticism of Christian Science is due to a failure to discriminate between its Principle and the practice of its representatives. These are frequently confused in the thought of those who find fault with Christian Scientists, especially when something happens to call particular attention to the subject.

COMPASSION

CHRISTIAN SCIENCE is with us to-day on no aggressive mission. It is not here to attack the faiths which others love, nor even to offer a new theology, but rather to give lovingly a reasonable and demonstrable explanation of the theology of Jesus.

ASKING IN HIS NAME

IT is recorded that those who were privileged to hear the greatest of all sermons, the Sermon on the Mount, were astonished at the doctrine of the great Teacher, "for he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. " They were impressed with the fact that the meek and lowly Nazarene was inspired by something more than the mere learning of the schools.
