Testimonies of Healing
I was healed of serious sickness by Christian Science. All hope had been given up when, at the advice of a dear friend and as a last resort, a Christian Science practitioner was called in to give me treatment.
It is with a feeling of sincere gratitude that I tell of the many blessings which have come to me through Christian Science. While waiting in the reception room of an American lady dentist I found a copy of Science and Health, in which I became very much engrossed; but later, under the pressure of various activities I lost recollection of it.
It is now over ten years since I took up the study of Christian Science for relief from physical ills. I had never been well, in fact was suffering from almost every ill to which flesh is heir.
Having been healed through Christian Science, and having received much benefit and encouragement from reading the testimonies of others, I give mine to the field in the hope that it. may uplift some weary wanderer searching for the truth that makes free.
As a child I suffered severely during the winter months from colds in the throat and nose, and this condition became worse as the years passed. In 1893 I learned of Christian Science, and it appealed to me as a religion, but it did not seem possible for me to be healed, since I was supposed to have chronic nasal catarrh.
When the study of Christian Science was begun eight years ago, I was healed in one treatment of severe nervousness, headache, and a structural defect of the eyes. As my understanding grew many other ills left me, among them rheumatism, bowel trouble, and a weak back.
Christian Science has meant more to me than I can ever express; it has brought me health and happiness and has made religion practical. From earliest childhood I greatly desired to understand spiritual things, and was intensely disappointed as the years passed to find that no one really seemed to live what he professed.
The first Christian Science meeting I attended, about twelve years ago, stands out clearly in memory. The young lady who afterward became my wife accompanied me, and it was also her first visit.
As I have sat a guest at the monthly and weekly feasts supplied us by the Journal and the Sentinel , I have always gained a sense of being fed and blessed, but strangely enough have never had the grace to express a written "thank you" for the bounties received. Over twenty years ago Christian Science came into our family through a remarkable case of healing, and as a young girl I received as a matter of course the many blessings which came from this changed viewpoint and was certainly wonderfully blessed.
ON the evening of April 18, 1915 my four year old son was terribly scalded. Without my knowledge and with a desire to "help mother," he ran the hot water into the bath tub, and when it was half full jumped in, after entirely undressing himself.
