Testimonies of Healing
It seems fitting that I should express my gratitude for the many benefits the study of Christian Science has brought and is bringing to me. I am especially grateful that our revered Leader, Mrs.
During an epidemic of scarlet fever I manifested all the symptoms of the disease, and as Christian Scientists are taught to obey the laws, the board of health was notified and I went into quarantine. As we obeyed all the rules, I was confined to one room for several weeks, but no material remedies were used.
It is with profound gratitude to God and with a sense of great indebtedness to our revered Leader that I wish to tell of my healing in Christian Science. Until four years ago, the time when I became acquainted with this teaching, I was afflicted with near-sightedness and weak eyesight, said to have been caused by pressure at birth.
Christian Science has indeed been a great help to me. I had felt for years that the promises of Christ Jesus should be fulfilled at the present time, but I knew of no one who could help me to realize them, and did not know how to apply them to my needs.
It is several years since I gave up medicine and decided to try Christian Science, as I had come to the conclusion that there was nothing else that could help me even temporarily. My health had been poor for years, getting gradually worse each winter until the fall of 1910, when I had a severe attack of bronchial trouble from which it seemed as if I would never recover.
I send this testimony with deep thankfulness to God and gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for the many blessings Christian Science has brought me.
Since my healing of appendicitis in the summer of 1913 through the power of divine Love as understood in Christian Science, my earnest desire has been to help others as I have been helped by reading the testimonies given in the Sentinel and at our Wednesday evening meetings.
