Testimonies of Healing
It has now been seven years since I turned to Christian Science as a last resort, in the hope of finding relief from asthma, which had become chronic. I had been bound by its seeming power for more than twenty years, and had exhausted every material remedy.
To those who have turned to Christian Science for the healing of sickness or other inharmonious conditions, who today are waiting for the fulfillment of the promise of the Father, and who falter in their hope because they have grown weary, perchance, in seemingly long continued darkness, I would come with the glad testimony that "he is faithful that promised," and to them that commit their way unto the Lord, He will surely bring it to pass. Some years ago, after a long search for the way of life, I was driven by ill health to Christian Science.
In a spirit of deep gratitude I wish to tell of how I was led into the study of Christian Science. The Bible tells us that "a little child shall lead them," and this was surely proven to us, as our initial experience in the healing efficacy of Christian Science was in the case of our little son, then an infant of six weeks.
I have often been encouraged by reading the testimonies in the Christian Science periodicals, and I sincerely hope that my testimony may encourage those who read it. Until a few years ago I cared nothing for religion.
I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me. It is just twelve years since I heard of this teaching through a friend.
In Science and Health we read that "every trial of our faith in God makes us stronger" ( p. 410 ); and I have proved this, for I have had many trials and thereby found my strength.
I am deeply grateful for the help Christian Science has been to me. My life has had quite a new light shed upon it through the study of Mrs.
For some time the thought has been before me to send in my testimony. Christian Science has given me a new hope in life, a reason to live.
A few years ago I was critically ill with typhoid fever. Being Christian Scientists, both my husband and I worked very earnestly, according to our understanding, but I grew worse.
" The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. " This was made most clear to me early in 1913, when I was healed of what seemed to be serious injuries.
