Testimonies of Healing

I woke one night in great discomfort with a gastrointestinal illness. After a difficult night, I found little improvement in the morning.

This healing happened on a Sunday morning as we were getting ready for church. While I was in another room, my wife put Kyle in his walker.

A Christian Scientist all my life, I have had many healings and seen many in my family. But I have never witnessed the power of prayer so clearly as I did one day when our son Kyle was seven months old.

I had the best training possible in my field, and had done well in school. But when I married I consciously chose to put a formal career aside in order to raise a family.

As a child growing up in a Christian Scientist family, I had many healings through the prayers of my parents and my own innocent understanding of the truth. Contagious diseases, severe cuts, and in one case a severed finger, were all healed through reliance on God alone.

One day while I was working in the kitchen, my children were playing and dancing in an open part of the room. Also in the room there was an iron wood-burning stove that was lighted.

Over a period of many years I have learned much from reading the testimonies in "Fruitage," the last chapter of Science and Health, and also in the Christian Science magazines. Just by reading Science and Health, my husband was healed of a throat condition that had been caused by his having inhaled poisonous gas while serving in the 1st Regiment during World War I.

In the past couple of years, I've been taking part in sports activities more regularly. The opportunity to be active and to share this fun with friends has been great.

I had a healing that I have drawn strength from, and for which I have often silently expressed gratitude to God. One afternoon, not feeling at all well, I requested to leave my work early.

When I was young I attended a Christian Science Sunday School for two years. At that time I had suffered from weeping eczema on the face for a year or more.
