Testimonies of Healing
For a long time The Christian Science Journal and the Christian Science Sentinel have been such a source of joy to me that I wish to give this testimony of healing in the hope it will help others. Several months ago, while preparing dinner for my family, I accidently spilled boiling water down one leg.
In 1982 my employer's work changed because of corporate restructuring, and I began to wonder if we would soon be without our positions. The constant changes in responsibility and duties seemed difficult to adjust to.
As a very young man, my father was healed of rheumatoid arthritis through Christian Science. My mother, a devout member of another church, learned of Science through him.
For more than sixteen years I have been active in our local Christian Science Society. I thank the Father for His care during these years in which I have surmounted physical and moral difficulties.
Several years ago my mother and I took a trip to a country in Central America. We rented a car and drove through the countryside to various towns.
I must express in writing my deep gratitude to God for all that Christian Science has brought to my life—spiritual learning, guidance, provision, protection, redemption, and healing. My parents confirm that while I was growing up, diseases commonly associated with childhood were few, and quickly healed through prayer.
In my early twenties I was not living a very moral life. During this time I became ill and finally went to a doctor.
Recently our family rented a one-room cabin for a long weekend camping trip. Early the first evening I was splitting firewood when the ax I was using slipped off a log and down onto my right foot.
The very first Christian Science healing that occurred in our family was a healing I experienced as a child. At that time my parents had been introduced only recently to this Science by a Christian Science practitioner.
As a lifelong student of Christian Science, I have experienced many healings through the study and application of Science. I have been healed of illnesses and injuries; supply has been met; relationships have been harmonized; and remarkable protection and safety have been experienced during an active career in athletics and as a combat infantryman during World War II.
