To the Christian Scientist, loyalty to his Leader's teachings should be of the utmost importance. Indeed, such steadfast loyalty enables the student to discern with metaphysical clearness between the genuine and spurious, the true and false, the real and unreal. The presence or the absence of true loyalty, therefore, determines whether one is sincere or insincere, faithful or unfaithful, trustworthy or untrustworthy.
Loyalty to the teachings of Christian Science admits us into the secret place of Spirit, the Most High, and makes our activities fruitful.
Just what does loyalty mean in Christian Science? It means, first, a desire to gain a correct knowledge of God as Principle, Spirit, Mind, Soul, Life, Truth, Love, and a conscientious adherence thereto. It means, secondly, clinging to a right understanding of man as God's image and likeness, and of the entire universe as God's spiritual creation. It means, thirdly, that because we know God is good—omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient—we are determined to prove so-called evil, with its train of sin, sickness, sorrow, death, to be impotent—powerless. In a word, it means the practical apprehension and demonstration of God's absolute perfection and goodness, and the nothingness of that which is unlike Him. This is genuine loyalty in Christian Science.
