"God is Love." These words spoken by a consecrated practitioner were my introduction to Christian Science, through which we learn that God, good, is All-in-all and error has no power. This statement of Truth came to me as a ray of hope, for my life was filled with suffering, darkness, and despair.
During the ten years prior to visiting this practitioner, I had undergone three major operations, which failed to afford any permanent relief. Due to illness and nervousness I was unable to retain any business position, and discouragement and despair led to the use of false stimulants—which only made things worse. At this time a loved one on whom I leaned for courage and financial support passed on, leaving me with a not-too-bright financial outlook, due to doctors' fees and medical expenses.
It was then that a friend who knew something of Christian Science induced me to consult a practitioner with whom she was acquainted. Then life took on new meaning: my mental and physical condition improved, false appetites disappeared, and happiness and joy replaced despair and depression.
