I have the deepest gratitude for Mrs. Eddy,...

From the November 1958 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I have the deepest gratitude for Mrs. Eddy, who gave us Christian Science and established the Christian Science periodicals, with the testimonies of healing, which have given me hope and inspiration many times through the years when things seemed dark. May I add my testimony as proof of God's healing power in our daily living?

In the fall of 1949 I felt as though I had nothing left to live for. My health was gone; my only son was to attend college in another country, thousands of miles away; and, worst of all, my marriage was so inharmonious that a separation was almost inevitable. My loved ones had all passed on, and I found myself friendless in a strange country. In my anguish, I cried out to God to help me and show me what I could do.

Then the thought came to me to visit relatives whom I had not seen since I was a very young girl. Meanwhile they had become sincere students of Christian Science. There were love, peace, and harmony expressed in their home, and I realized how much I needed these in my own experience. It gave me a desire to go home and to become better acquainted with God through my own study of Christian Science. I was happier than I had been in years.
