The listing of the name of a Christian Scientist in The Christian Science Journal as a practitioner signifies the realization of his unselfed desire to obey the command of Christ Jesus to cast out evil and heal the sick. It denotes the maturing of this desire and of his aspiration to share with mankind the truth which has brought into his own life the healing, uplifting influence of the Christ, God's divine idea.
The opportunity to enter into the public practice of Christian Science is given to all who are prepared to fulfill their part in this holy work. The work of the individual practitioner is established and protected by specific Rules and By-Laws, which are found in the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy and which, when obeyed, ensure his success.
Mrs. Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 112), "From the infinite One in Christian Science comes one Principle and its infinite idea, and with this infinitude come spiritual rules, laws, and their demonstration, which, like the great Giver, are 'the same yesterday, and to-day, and forever.'"
