Christian Science Penetrates Beyond Birth and Death

From the August 1968 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Did you ever stop to ponder the impressive fact that Christian Science makes plain to us what we were before birth, what we actually are now, and what we shall always be? Does this mean to you—as it should— that Christian Science reveals our preexistence, our coexistence with Spirit, and our eternal existence to be one and the same thing?

To emphasize the teaching of Christian Science that our eternal individual existence has no starting and no stopping, no interruption, let us utilize a portion of the definition of "death" given by Mrs. Eddy in the Glossary of Science and Health, the Christian Science textbook: "An illusion, the lie of life in matter; the unreal and untrue; the opposite of Life."Science and Health, p. 584;

As Christian Scientists, our model is the master Christian, Christ Jesus. He proved the illusion of both birth and death as those experiences are commonly misunderstood by mortals, taught as they are by material systems of religion and medicine to believe in the reality of matter and of material sense testimony. St. Paul's teaching accords with our Leader's words just quoted when he declares, "To be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace."Rom. 8:6;
