Church in Action

Drugs in the suburbs

From the December 1970 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Is there a hidden drug problem among youth in our community? the Christian Scientists in Framingham, Massachusetts, asked.

They wanted to be fully informed and spiritually armed. After all, "to help the community" was an important goal the members of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Framingham, had chosen for themselves.

Already a teen-ager in a neighboring town had died from the effects of drugs, and there was a rising chorus of concern on the part of suburban parents and teachers who had always thought of drug abuse as an inner-city problem.
