In the glow of the revelation

From the May 1979 issue of The Christian Science Journal

As daybreak follows night in obedience to law that no human hand can start or stay, so the revelation of the Science of Christianity dawns upon humanity in obedience to divine law. The Scriptures prophesy it; the Master foretold it. He called it the Comforter, which would come in the fullness of time and lead humanity into all truth. No person brought the revelation to pass, but the consciousness of Mary Baker Eddy was the transparency through which it shone. This establishes her place in history for all time to come and identifies her unique relation to Christian Science as its Discoverer and Founder, and forever the Leader of its movement. As time goes on, the world will come to recognize and honor her more and more. And Christian Scientists, too, will love her ever more understandingly.

Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures is the textbook of Christian Science. Mrs. Eddy did not write this book of herself. The revelation poured, and she was as a scribe writing it down. Through the years, as the revelation continued to unfold and became more brilliant, she revised the book, until at length she knew it contained for all time to come the complete and final statement of the pure Christianity Christ Jesus had brought to the world.

As the student studies Science and Health, its pages glow with ever deepening, broadening light. Passages that he has read hundreds of times take on new effulgence. Words take on new meanings; a fresh light shines. Truly this is the "new tongue" of Spirit, which speaks to every individual in the language he can comprehend from the standpoint of his present spiritual growth; and in those pages he finds his Leader, guide, and friend. Mrs. Eddy advises, "Those who look for me in person, or elsewhere than in my writings, lose me instead of find me." The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 120; The Leader and the Science can never be separated.
