Ascension

From the February 1981 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When?

Constant rising:
no morning or evening,
not temporal better, but eternal good.

No material vanishing act:
(though it so appear)
less final victory than round-robin winning.

Perfection:
not captured, but continually gained,
not grasped, but perpetually learned.

Uninterrupted progress:
not man-willed, but God-impelled—
irresistible, unavoidable.

Not outcome or result, but process
continuing then...
continuing now . . .
continuing then...

No static, future accomplishment.
The detailing of infinity—
of God's all
and all in it,

Now.
