Man: not guilty

From the October 1998 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Increasingly, people in both the religious and medical communities are recognizing that our health is correlated with our state of thought. Hatred, resentment, fear, envy, anger, or chronic frustration can all lead to sickness.

If disease has a mental basis, and we are responsible for our thoughts, the question then arises, should we feel guilty when we are sick?

The best healer that mankind has known, Christ Jesus, certainly did not condemn his fellow beings in need of healing. Instead of imposing on them a feeling of guilt, he removed it with Christly compassion. "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden," he said, "and I will give you rest." Matt. 11:28 As the Apostle John explains, "God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved." John 3:17
