Two Christian Science practitioners talk about the moment when their practice went public

From the November 2002 issue of The Christian Science Journal

First off, let me say that the thought of practicing Christian Science for the public was the very last thing I would have imagined myself doing. I would have said "Never in a million years!"

Not only was it not in line with how I saw myself, it didn't fit my capabilities. Most practitioners and their patients communicate by telephone, but I was uneasy about talking on the telephone. I was also uncomfortable meeting with new people—shyness, I guess. Yet today, I can look back and see how my whole life had been a preparation for this precious work. Part of that preparation had been my making God my love in life.
