NOT BY ACCIDENT

From the October 2005 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I PRACTICALLY gagged on my coffee. I'm going to what? I thought. I just came here for a grande decaf! Lord, spare me this drama! What triggered this feeble mental spit-take? One simple thought: You are going to save someone's life.

I had spent the early part of the afternoon studying Science and Health. Afterward, I'd felt compelled to go to Starbucks and enjoy the people passing by. Well, I reasoned, prayer is about listening, and what I hear right now is 'Go have yourself a mocha!' God is good!

Once I was there, all settled in and people-watching, the rest of the message came through. The life-saving part.
