Recently I was talking to a colleague about the word should. How easily it can slip into thought in regard to Christian Science: I should read the weekly Bible Lesson more . . . I should give more attention to the periodicals . . . I should never miss Wednesday night testimony meeting. That word can be a real killjoy to our inspiration. So I looked up the word in the Oxford Dictionary and found its origin: “shall.” Ah. Doesn’t that word give a sweet release—more a sense of unfoldment, a sense of invitation?
