A Church of healers

From the October 2014 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When you first engage in conversation with Lyle Young, the Clerk of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, you might be surprised at what you hear—that is, if your mother tongue is French, Spanish, Portuguese, or Dutch. He speaks them all fluently. It’s a talent that enables him to communicate directly to so many the Church’s love for its members.

Lyle’s interest in languages and people arose, to a great degree, from the multicultural environment in which he was raised in Saskatchewan, a province of western Canada. After university studies at home and abroad and an internship in the Canadian Parliament in Ottawa, he began his Christian Science healing practice.

Later, Lyle served as First Reader of The Mother Church and traveled widely as a Christian Science lecturer.
