Healing and the Christian Science periodicals

From the November 2014 issue of The Christian Science Journal

This article is adapted from a Journal “Putting It on Record” podcast titled “Healing and the Christian Science periodicals--an interview with the Editor,” on JSH-Online.com.

David Kennedy, Editor of the Christian Science magazines, has been thinking and praying about the magazines Mary Baker Eddy founded since he began writing for them in 1975. In this interview with Managing Editor, Susan Stark, David talks about the importance of faithfully and clearly conveying the teachings of Christian Science in its applicability to all of humanity’s needs.

This year’s Annual Meeting, 2014, had “A spiritual foundation of Christ-healing” as its theme. The words come from this sentence in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy: “Jesus established his church and maintained his mission on a spiritual foundation of Christ-healing” (p. 136). David, what does that say to you as a member of The Mother Church?

The sentence says a lot, clearly. It makes me ask myself questions, such as: “How much healing is going on in my life? Am I showing my faith by my works? Am I accommodating the material senses, going along with them, letting them govern my thinking, govern my life, or am I living above corporeal sense and correcting it?”
