Letting go of the dream

From the March 2014 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Lois Carlson, a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science from Chicago, participated in a JSH-Online live chat titled, “The Christ-power behind forgiveness.” This excerpt from the chat has been adapted for publication. To hear the whole chat go to sentinel.christianscience.com/chat/forgiveness

Because we are fundamentally spiritual, the Christ-power works as a Science to make us know our spirituality. As this understanding progresses in our thinking, there can be all types of “earthquakes” around us. But we can’t mistake the stir of mortal mind’s dream about matter as our real life because our history is not in the dream. Our true history is in our origin, God’s magnificent proclamation of the creation, where all ideas are perfectly related, sustained, nurtured, and blessed.

The essential truth of man’s godliness can’t be destroyed. I think sometimes in our proactive prayers for mankind what we’re really needing to do is to defend the fact that man loves goodness, that man has an attraction to what’s most familiar to him, that man wants to know his origin. So man’s love of goodness includes love of the divine Principle of goodness.
