Where is the Church we embrace?

From the February 2016 issue of The Christian Science Journal

How can we take a prayerful approach to considering where we truly find Church?

We can start with the Bible. Christ Jesus said, “Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them” (Matthew 18:20), and also, “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me” (John 12:32). Clearly, this had nothing to do with where he was in a physical sense. People came to Jesus for regeneration and healing. He didn’t try to appeal to them with personal sense. He knew that the true attraction was his consecrated thought, his expression of the power of Christ, Truth, to which we are all naturally drawn.

This healing atmosphere of Church, not physical location or structure, is what gives Church its usefulness.
