Testimonies of Healing

There are many who think Christian Science treatment may be good for minor complaints, such as are often commonly called "nervous troubles," but that there is no possibility of the treatment being able to reach "real disease," such as consumption, heart-disease, tumors, typhoid fever, venereal, so-called incurable conditions, also the effects of heredity and congenital malformation, and it is to these incredulous ones that these few words are addressed. Those of us who have seen the "glory of the Lord" in the healing of many or all the above list of ills, do not need further proof of the power of God to heal "all manner of disease," as we find recorded in Matthew, 10: I , for we know whom we have believed, and would attest our gratitude for these mercies by a life devoted to the spread of God's kingdom among men, that others might learn of the way out of bondage to the freedom of the children of God.

All my life, except for a few transient sunbeams of health, I had been a great sufferer, and have endured many things at the hands of innumerable doctors, who, no doubt, meant well, and did all in their power to relieve me, but without success. Fifteen months ago, I heard of Christian Science, and was only too thankful to avail myself of treatment, for I had lost all faith in materia medica.

Last October my attention was first directed toward Christian Science with the desire to investigate. I had, of course, heard of it before, but had rather hazy ideas regarding the "peculiar people" who needed no medical attention in sickness.

YEARS ago, when seemingly under the shadow of great suffering, mental and physical; when idleness, enforced by a mistaken education, seemed to bind me as with chains; when religion was a myth, and hope for good a cheat, I stood, in the midst of plenty, spiritually starved, peering into unknown and terror-filled darkness. Like Moses, I was tending my flock at "the backside of the desert," when I heard the call to look up into light, not downward into darkness, and beheld the "mountain of God," and paused, trembling, doubtful, but with a new hope as sweet, as sure, and as heart-stirring, as the song of birds after a storm, to listen to the command I was to hear.

The testimonial meetings held on Friday evening in the Sons of Temperance Hall by the Christian Scientists, are very interesting. Last evening there was a good attendance.

For years I have been a victim of rheumatism, and for months have been confined to the bed. In addition to this claim, in October, 1891, pleuro-pneumonia set in; and, as days passed by, I became weaker and weaker, and I could neither eat nor sleep.

At three years of age, measles left me with hip disease; and at eight, the hip became dislocated. The best surgeons treated me, but failed to benefit.

I Have been a teacher in this State nineteen years. Taught continuously till my school closed last June.

About two years ago, my attention was first called to Christian Science and what it could do for man; but I had no sooner heard of it than I came to the conclusion that it was a genuine humbug, and that any one who practised it should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. What did I know about Christian Science? Just simply nothing.

I Have known of this blessed Science for four years, and it has been of untold value to me. I have been a great sufferer for many years; was considered delicate all my life, and had lain in bed five years with the severest kind of suffering.
