With much love and gratitude, I give this testimony of what Christian Science has brought to me.
Fifteen years ago I was suffering from a serious kidney trouble, for which I had had medical treatment for more than a year. I was informed that I should either have to submit to an operation or lie in bed for three months. I had witnessed in my immediate family many beautiful healings through Christian Science, and I decided to seek and find what I could through the truth. I obtained a copy of the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and by studying and applying its teachings to the best of my understanding, I was healed of the illness by the time I had read the book through. No more pain was manifested.
I have had many other proofs of God's power to heal. Intestinal influenza, and also a severe case of tonsillitis, were healed through absent treatment. In one hour from the time a practitioner was called I fell asleep and slept for five hours. When I awakened I was healed, and returned to the place where I was employed. There has never been a recurrence of the trouble. I am grateful to the practitioners for their loving help, and for what I have gained through the application of Christian Science.
For many years it was thought I had an internal growth, which caused me much pain and discomfort. The practitioner quoted these lines from Science and Health (p. 273): "Divine Science reverses the false testimony of the material senses, and thus tears away the foundations of error." The following mail brought a letter from a daughter, who quoted the same lines. So I felt that this message must be from the one Mind, and if I was dwelling "in the secret place of the most High," God would heal me. After I had held fast to this truth for about three days, a stone, weighing one fourth of a pound, passed out of my system. The sense of freedom I experienced is more than words can express.
I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a Christian Science Society, where I have had the privilege of serving as librarian. My greatest desire is so to live as to prove my gratitude to God for Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and for our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, and her gift to all mankind. — Reelsville, Indiana.
