It is with much gratitude that I testify to the healing power of Truth as found in Christian Science.
Some years ago my little girl was sent home from school with a note from the school physician, saying that she had a weak heart, and that she must not be allowed to run or play strenuously, because the exertion might prove fatal. Another physician, to whom I took the child for help, said that she might outgrow the condition when she reached maturity, but that she would probably always be delicate.
Soon after this I began to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, not with any thought of healing for my little girl, but because I was unhappy. I shall always be grateful to the one who saw my need, and lent me the book.
I was convinced of the truth of the statements it contained. I learned that Life is God, never in matter, not dependent on physical organism for continuity or perfection. This truth liberated the little one, and in less than two months she was free and normal. Two years later, a school physician pronounced her sound and well. Mrs. Eddy has written, on page 243 of Science and Health, "Truth, Life, and Love are a law of annihilation to everything unlike themselves, because they declare nothing except God." This corroborates the statement made by Christ Jesus, "The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life."
Recently, as I read a printed lecture on Christian Science by a member of the Board of Lectureship of The Mother Church, a growth in my nose loosened and was expelled painlessly and naturally. We have also had healings of fever, lumbago, and blood poisoning in my family, and have been protected from so-called poison oak and effects of scalding. Some of these healings have been brought about through my understanding of Christian Science, and for some I have had help from a practitioner.
To Christ Jesus, who brought the light of Truth to the world and gave us proof of indestructible Life and unchanging Love, we owe endless gratitude, and to Mrs. Eddy, who elucidated the Master's teachings in Science and Health, and founded the Church of Christ, Scientist, we owe our loyalty. Our love and gratitude to all who have marked the way, and to the early Christian Scientists, who "have borne the burden and heat of the day," can best be expressed by loyalty to God and service to our fellow men, and perseverance in study and demonstration. — Los Angeles, California.
I am the daughter who was healed of heart trouble. The healing took place six years ago, and it has been permanent.—
