"KEEP THAT WHICH IS COMMITTED TO THY TRUST"

From the June 1953 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The outstanding fact about Christian Science is that it is a religion which is demonstrable, that it proves its thesis by actual works of healing both of body and of mind. If Christian Science were incapable of proof, then it would be a mere theoretical doctrine, denuded of any vitalizing power to regenerate mankind. Christian Science is founded on invariable, absolute Principle, God. Its application in human experience is necessarily of a widely varied character; for it is the law of God made manifest over all the earth.

How necessary it is then to understand the absolute nature of Principle, transcending all material sense, comprising all substance, including all reality! Principle is self-created, self-perpetuating, self-sustaining Life, vital in function, eternal in existence. Life is expressed in activity, Love in universal harmony. Mind is made manifest through its ideas, its own images of thought. Acting through spiritual law and operating by its own prerogative, Mind is the force in its own system of ideas, which renders it supreme over all. All is Mind and its idea. Truth and its expression, Spirit and its manifestation.

This, in part, is the absolute approach to scientific treatment. Spirit and its reflection as the All-in-all may have been what Jesus desired to impart to his disciples, but could not fully, when he said (John 16:12), "I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now." The absolute recognition of God and idea, God and His perfect reflection, man, is the Christly way, the scientific way of instantaneous healing.
