Testimonies of Healing

My first experience in Christian Science...

From the June 1953 issue of The Christian Science Journal

My first experience in Christian Science came in 1919. For years I had tried to find a satisfactory definition of God, but my search had been without success.

In looking over the list of churches in a Sunday paper, I noticed one called Church of Christ, Scientist. It advertised a Lesson-Sermon from the Christian Science Quarterly, the subject of which was "God." I read the excerpts given in the paper and thought that what they described was more like what God should be than anything else I had found; so I purchased a Bible to find out more about God.

About three months later I was very sick. Having been treated by several doctors without growing any better, I had lost all faith in medical treatment and all hope of ever being well. At my mother-in-law's request I called another doctor. After a thorough examination he told me that I had a serious heart condition and that neither he nor any other doctor could ever give me medicine that would do me any good.
