I should like to testify to the joy and inspiration that have come to me through the study and application of Christian Science. It has met my every need since 1933. The Bible grows dearer to me each day. I find that the same divine help that was available to the prophets of old is available to me today.
With the help of Christian Science practitioners and through my own work, I have had many healings. Soon after taking up the study of Christian Science twenty-four years ago, I was instantaneously healed of fainting spells. I had been troubled with this condition for several years. One time when the condition seemed to become worse, a Christian Science practitioner was called, and help was given. A complete healing followed. I have also had other healings, such as those of influenza and colds.
A broken arm was healed through complete reliance on God. For the help given me at that time by a practitioner and by my husband, I am very grateful. During the period, I learned a much-needed lesson in patience. Also, I gained a glimpse of what Paul meant when he said (II Cor. 5:8), "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord."
Even though I did not have the use of my arm and had to hold it in place with my other hand, I felt that as superintendent of the Sunday School I should be in my place. This was the turning point. Some time during the opening exercises I placed my arm upon the desk. I was not aware of it until I had finished reading. I had indeed been "absent from the body, and . . . present with the Lord."
In just a few days I was using this arm normally. Our whole household rejoiced over this proof of the healing Christ, made available through the teachings of Christian Science. For these healings and for many others, I am sincerely grateful, but, above all, I rejoice in the awakening of my thought to the things of God. This awakening has brought much joy and harmony into my life and is making me aware of God's perfect creation.
In the Bible we read (Ps. 105:3), "Let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord." I am profoundly grateful to God, to Christ Jesus, and to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who declares in her book "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 330): "St. Paul wrote, 'Rejoice in the Lord always.' And why not, since man's possibilities are infinite, bliss is eternal, and the consciousness thereof is here and now?"
This testimony would be incomplete without my expressing heartfelt gratitude for class instruction and for the encouragement which my teacher has given me many times when the way was difficult.
How true are the words of our Leader in Science and Health (Pref., p. vii), "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings"!— San Antonio, Texas.
