Testimonies of Healing

From the May 1968 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A kindly neighbor invited my sister and me to accompany him to Christian Science church services on Sunday morning. This was our first introduction to Christian Science. The joy and happiness expressed by the members of the congregation impressed us, but when it was mooted that as we were still in our teens we should enroll in the Sunday School, this we foolishly declined to do. But the seed had been sown by this dear friend.

One evening a year or two later my sister, who was suffering great pain caused by an attack of colic, requested our mother to read from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. The doctor had been summoned, but by the time he arrived my sister was free from pain, and the periodic attacks of colic never returned. Having touched the hem of Christ's garment, we naturally commenced the study of Christian Science, returning to the church services, for by this time we were unfortunately over Sunday School age.

Soon after the outbreak of the Second World War my gums and teeth became exceedingly painful. Intending to ask for help in Science, I mentioned the trouble to a dear friend and practitioner after a Wednesday testimony meeting. Discerning my need she quietly counseled me to study the word "pressure" in Mrs. Eddy's writings, and before I could ask for treatment, turned to speak to someone else.
